JOB DESCRIPTION:  Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) ManagerSUMMARYColorado Asphalt Services, Inc, a Denver-area asphalt and concrete company, is seeking to hire a full-time employee to support daily operations. Join a growing company in an interesting market with a customer-centric culture and a staff of150. The Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager has primary responsibility for CASI’s safety program, regulatory,compliance and related risk management matters. This position reports to the Vice-President.The EH&S Manager will lead and drive a safety culture within CASI by driving CASI’s program and its implementation. This individual will be the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for the company’s safety program, and overall EH&S platform and policies. The essence of this position is to proactively work relentlessly to ensure that CASI is doing everything reasonably possible to (1) keep our employees safe, and (2) keep us compliant.

RESPONSIBILITES:

• Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state and local requirements including OSHA, DOT, EPA and other internal and external safety, health, and environmental standards• Develop and maintain all Emergency Management Systems and drive incident prevention through the implementation and management of safety processes and requirements• Develop and maintain the CASI EH&S training calendar that encompasses all reporting, inspections, audits and other relevant information for the company.• Promote a Zero Accident Culture by driving programs designed to educate and prevent safety hazards by identifying and mitigating potential risks.• Prepare, document and present monthly training sessions for CASI operations, including: foremen, operators, laborers, drivers, mechanics and other personnel to meet or exceed those requirements of OSHA or the clients of the company.•    Extensive time in field working actively on safety with our field operations team•    Oversight for GPS and any additional tracking/monitoring programs or systems• Responsible for hazard and safety analysis and assessments on all equipment and processes in addition to providing ideas for improvement

TRAINING:

• DOT, Occupational, Health, Environmental and Safety Training – develop, implement, and maintain thorough and extensive programs•  Build and maintain rapport with all environmental agencies including OSHA, DOT, EPA and maintain responsibility for monthly environmental reporting, OSHA and Workers’ Compensation Reporting•    Responsible for overseeing security at all company facilities.• Responsible for building a relationship with the insurance providers for the company and utilizing their training and services.• Responsible for the overall appearance of the facilities, and directing any trash or debris to be properly stored or disposed of.• Research and implement new safety regulations as they relate to enforcement of the overall health, safety and environmental program.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Solid understanding and ability to drive behavioral-based safety (BBS) in an environmental construction/paving organization and ability to create programs that support a 24/7 safety culture at all levels• Strong interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills and comfort interacting with a variety of employees at all levels of the organization•   Ability to develop and sustain collaborative relationships throughout the organization•   Natural curiosity to monitor trends and identify potential risks or emerging trends of interest and concern to CASI•• Research and implement new safety regulations as they relate to enforcement of the overall health, safety and environmental program.•    Strong analytical and organizational skills to effectively address complex process issues•    Root cause analysis•    Ability to effectively communicate with clients, potential clients, and other parties of interest• Strong oral and written communication skills to notify leadership and operations team(s) of issues, incidents and actions•    Work closely with the CASI executive and management team(s) to cultivate and grow the Safety Culture•    Possess a strong understanding of DOT rules/ regulations•    Network with CASI peer groups to collaborate on compliance and program evolution•    Utilize CAPA and other resources to ensure CASI is up to date in its program and deliverables•    Effective management of one EH&S support position

SALARY / WAGES:Compensation based on experience and skill set.

BENEFITS:Health insurance (Kaiser Permanente) and dental insurance (Guardian), 401(k) after one year. 1 week of paid vacation after one year (two weeks after two years), $15,000 term life/ADD insurance, and profit sharing at the close of each fiscal year. A company car will be provided with maintenance, fuel and insurance costs covered. Continuing education expenses can potentially be covered in full or in part under the company’s comprehensive employee development program.
