Safety Coordinator

Position Title:   Safety Coordinator (Full Time)

Reports to:        Safety Director

FLSA Status:    Non-Exempt




Hydro Construction Co. Inc. (HCCI) is a vibrant, growing construction company located in Fort Collins, Colorado. This position will support our company’s overall safety program and job specific safety efforts, at all construction projects as the full time Safety Coordinator.



These functions are competently applied to tasks and safety efforts at Hydro Construction, primarily in the construction industry:

  • Competent delivery of safety and health management tasks
  • Management of OSHA compliance at construction sites and company recordkeeping
  • Proficiently develop, coordinate and deliver compliance training associated with OSHA regulations
  • Management of internal jobsite assessments, audits and Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
  • Conduct accident investigations and develop prevention strategies
  • Develop and execute compliance calendar actions to ensure company compliance
  • Develop, implement and manage safety and health management system with SafeSite
  • Interpret standards and codes and apply structured guidance to company staff
  • Manage and coordinate with company safety committee and key subcontractors
  • Coordinate emergency response activities



Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1904,1926 and 1910 regulations
  • Basic knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and/or Pipeline Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) is a plus.
  • OSHA 30 Hour – 501 Construction Industry Standards Course
  • Organizational skills with capability to work on multiple, concurrent project sites
  • Proven ability to effectively lead Health & Safety efforts
  • High level of motivation, self-starter
  • Strong writing skills
  • Summarize technical concepts in written reports
  • Ability to independently seek out resources
  • Willing to travel periodically
  • Familiarity with MS Excel & Word
  • Work collaboratively with Hydro Construction team
  • Maintain confidentiality of all work information



BS in Industrial Safety/Hygiene, Construction Management or related field




Three to six years in a health and/or safety position requiring working knowledge of OSHA Standards in a construction environment.



Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification desirable



Material and Equipment involved:

  • Climb ladders and stairs, work at heights and outdoors
  • Standard office equipment
  • Industrial hygiene instrumentation
  • Expectation for all employees to adhere to policies outlined in the Hydro Construction Employee Handbook
  • Attention to safety as described in Hydro Construction Safety Program


SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience
